ATTENTION TEACHERS & INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS:

Please be sure to check the spelling of names and grade levels before submitting entry for final registration. There will be no corrections made to entry tags/winner announcements/checks!

There will be no substitutions of student artwork!

ENTRY REGISTRATION PERIODS

Entry Periods begin at 12:01 am - End at 12:00 midnight

Methods for registering Student Artwork:

  • Online Entry System
  • Mail an Official 2010 SC State Fair Student Art entry form to the Entry Office
  • Hand deliver to the Dowling Administration Building 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

DELIVERY DATES

Pre-registered artwork will be received on the following dates:
Sunday, September 26 -- 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Monday, September 27 -- 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
Tuesday, September 28 -- 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

AMERICRAFT-CANTEY BUILDING

Enter Fairgrounds at North Gate on Rosewood Drive to deliver artwork to front entrance of Americraft-Cantey Building.

JUDGING RESULTS

Student Art winners will be posted at http://scstatefair.org/competitive-exhibits/results/JudgingResultsArchive.php (or from web site home page - click on Judging Results) by Wednesday, October 6, 2010.

Sunday, October 10, 2010 -- 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Enter Fairgrounds at Gate 6 on George Rogers Blvd.
Student Art winners accompanied by their parent(s) and/or teacher are invited

and encouraged to attend the Student Art Awards Reception to receive their award premiums

and to preview the 2010 Student Art Exhibit.

There is no Monday pick-up!!! School entries will only be released as a group and be claimed by a designated representative of the school!!!

All work must be claimed on the above dates and times!!!

Unclaimed artwork remaining after 6:00 pm on Wednesday becomes the property of the South Carolina State Fair and will be donated to charity !! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

  1. The South Carolina State Fair General Rules and Regulations shall apply.
  2. Student Art Exhibitors shall be advised and adhere to the following::
    • Exhibitors must register during the current year Open or Late Entry Registration Period.
    • CONFIRMATION ~ Online exhibitors will receive an e-mail confirmation once the registration is completed; exhibitors who postal mail their entry registrations must include a self-addressed and stamped envelope in order to receive confirmation that their entry registration has been received.  Please do not telephone the Entry Office for this information.
    • Student Art exhibitor must be a resident of South Carolina attending public, private or home school in grades Preschool - Twelfth grade.
    • Student Art exhibitor must be under age nineteen (19) and not graduated from high school.
    • Student Art exhibitor may register as an Individual (using Individual, Family, Home School Entry form or Division when entering Online) or a teacher may register their Students (using School Entry form or Division if entering Online)
    • Student Art exhibitor may register as an Individual (using Individual, Family, Home School Entry Form or Division if entering Online) or a teacher may register his/her Students (using School Entry Form or Division if entering Online).
    • There is a limit of one (1) entry per student. Students registering via their school may not register as an Individual. Duplicate entries will be juried out.
    • Unlimited School entries are permitted; however, only one (1) entry per student will be permitted. This means only one (1) 2-D or only one (1) 3-D; a student cannot be registered in both sections, nor may the same student be registered by different teachers or as an Individual. Duplicate entries will be juried out.
    • Only individual artwork will be accepted. No group pieces may be entered.
    • Artwork must be original and have been completed in the last school year.
    • Teachers should jury their student artwork and not bring multiple quantities of the same lesson.
    • Artworks are juried (selected for exhibition) and judged for awards.
    • Works juried out (not selected for exhibition) will be stored in a safe location until release dates.

PREPARING ARTWORK FOR DELIVERY

  1. Teachers delivering artwork with multiple pieces should stack the artworks by grade level.
    • NEW: A teacher-generated label should be attached to back of each student's art work that includes a school stamp or label with the student name, student grade level, school name, teacher name and teacher phone number. Do not attach school labels anywhere on the front of the artwork.
    • Individual student artwork should be labeled on the back with the student name, student grade level, parent name, and phone number where parent can be reached.
    • Information on school/individual labels on back of artwork should match the entry data on entry form.
  2. Bring a copy of your entry form when delivering and picking up artwork.

GUIDELINES FOR TWO-DIMENSIONAL (2-D) ARTWORK

  1. Maximum size 22"x28".
    • All poster board or matt board must be mounted securely,
    • Plastic mounting tags may be attached on the back for hanging.
    • Teacher/Individual labels should be attached on back of artwork securely and correspond with the direction the piece should be hung.
    • It is recommended that black poster board or matt board not be used because of the black hanging panels.
  2. Not acceptable for hanging: construction paper or any light weight paper, card board, canvas on stretchers, or framed artwork.

GUIDELINES FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL (3-D) ARTWORK

  1. Bases for mounted sculptural forms can be no smaller than 5 inches and no larger that 24 inches. All mountings must be sturdy.
    • Un-mounted sculptural forms must be able to stand alone without wobbling or tipping over.
    • Relief pieces such as masks, clay plaques, mosaics, etc. should have some form of hanging devise firmly attached to back of artwork.
    • Mobiles or fiber hangings must also be equipped with a firmly attached hanging device.
  2. Teacher/Individual labels should be attached securely to the bottom or back of artwork.

THREE DIMENSIONAL (3-D) - SECTION 0207

Includes jewelry, sculpture, fibers, mobiles, and any batiks which are prepared as a wall hanging.

All ceramics must be handmade or wheel thrown clay objects. No commercial molds will be allowed in ceramics.
