Earlier this year...
The South Carolina State Fair is once again inviting the public to choose the Columbia area’s best chefs to compete in the second annual Famously Hot Chef Showdown on Thursday, October 11, 2012 on the WLTX-TV Stage at the fair.
The Royal Chef and best-selling cookbook author, Darren McGrady, former chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana and Princes William and Harry, will serve as this year’s Master of Ceremonies and Head Judge.
The three restaurants and chefs receiving the most votes through the State Fair’s Facebook page, will face off in a live, Iron Chef style competition during the fair. Chef McGrady, along with fellow judges Blake McCormick, Executive Chef at EVO in North Charleston’s Historic Park Circle; Mrs. Patricia Moore-Pastides, author of the Greek Revival cookbook; and Chef Troy Gagliardo of television’s Tuesdays with Troy will select the winner and crown this year’s Famously Hot Master Chef.
Area restaurants and chefs competing in the voting process are:

- Momo's Bistro, Executive Chef Carlos Brown
- Pearlz Oyster Bar, Executive Chef Edwin Florez

- SakiTumi, Executive Chef and Managing Partner Larry Thompson
- Thirsty Fellow, Executive Chef Travis Ellis
- Villa Tronco, Chef Nate Skipper
Members of the public can vote once per day through Monday, September 3rd on the S.C. State Fair Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SCStateFair (click the Chef Showdown icon). The three finalists will be announced by WLTX-TV the following day. Please note: You have to "Like" our page to be able to vote and you cannot vote from a business page, as Facebook does not allow third party apps to access business pages.
